Photo Rejuvenation IllustrationWhat You Should Know About IPL Facials

We use the Palomar system for our photo rejuvenation process, which uses wavelengths of light to clear unwanted veins and skin pigmentation targeting blood (for vascular lesions) and skin pigment (for pigmented lesions).

The Palomar RejuveLux handpieces are highly specialised and can treat multiple skin conditions such as sunspots and spider veins. The handpieces release pulses of light into the skin, which are absorbed by the pigment in sunspots and the blood in visible vessels, and are transformed into heat. The heat dissolves the cells that create the pigment and unwanted vessels, leaving your skin looking younger and more vibrant than ever.

What Should You Expect From IPL Facials

  • IPL Photofacials require a series of pulses, after which a cooling mask will be applied to your skin.
  • After treatment the redness usually subsides within a few hours and returns back to normal.
  • Results can be seen in as few as 2-3 treatments.
  • A flashing light, an audible tone, and a mild sensation on the skin will tell you when the handpiece is being used.
  • Immediately after treatment, you can expect to feel a little sunburnt and you may experience a little swelling. This usually lasts 2 to 24 hours, and can be eased with cold gel or ice packs.
  • Sunspots/Sun Damage: The sunspots will darken after treatment and will peel naturally within 1 to 3 weeks
  • Rosacea: Skin tone will be more normal, with an improvement in redness within a week of treatment.
  • Spider Veins: Vessels may disappear completely after treatment or they may appear darker and then fully or partially fade within 10-14 days.
